The Blue Moon Jazz Quartet
Rosie Flores, Vocalist
Lindsay Greene, Guitar
Josh flowers, Upright Bass
Shane Dickens, Piano
While the world knows San Antonio-born singer-songwriter Rosie Flores as “the rockabilly filly,” Flores has an alter ego that is equally talented and appealing. Flores heads up the Blue Moon Jazz Quartet, an Austin-based ensemble whose focus is Flores’ original material and selections from the Grea American Songbook. Flores is joined onstage by pianist Shane Decker, bassist Josh Flowers, and guitarist Lindsay Greene.
First formed in 2012, the group has played at Austin’s celebrated jazz bar the Elephant Room, and has more recently held down a long-running weekly residency at Austin’s famed Continental Gallery. Standards such as “Fly Me to the Moon,” “S’Wonderful,” “Smoke Rings” and “Goodie Goodie” alternated with Flores’ own original material to make for a compelling listening experience.
Fans of the Blue Moon Jazz Quartet, and fans-to-be will be glad to learn that Flores will soon be releasing a full length album featuring the best of their repertoire. In the meantime, the best way to experience Rosie and her jazz quartet is live and in person.
